Nicht alle Rockstars sind Fans von sozialen Netzwerken. Brian Molko (40) vom Rocktrio Placebo kann sich jedenfalls nicht dafür erwärmen. Mit der Single „Too Many Friends“ des neuen Placebo-Albums „Loud Like Love“ hat der Sänger ein Lied darüber geschrieben. Ein Gespräch über zu viele Freundschaftsanfragen, Verschwörungen in der Cyberwelt und die sexuelle Neugier von Google.

BRIAN, AUF DER NEUEN PLACEBO-SINGLE „TOO MANY FRIENDS“ ERÖFFNEST DU MIT DER ZEILE: „MY COMPUTER THINKS I’M GAY ...“ WIE KOMMT MAN AUF SO WAS?
Weil es mir genau so passiert ist! Ich weiß nicht mehr, was ich genau bei Google eingegeben habe oder auf welchen Pornoseiten ich zuvor etwas abenteuerlich unterwegs gewesen bin, aber plötzlich änderten sich die Werbeanzeigen auf den Internetseiten und suggerierten mir, dass ich ein schwuler Mann wäre!

DU HAST DICH MAL ALS BISEXUELLEN MANN BEZEICHNET. ABER DU BIST NICHT SCHWUL?
Nein, das bin ich nicht! Aber es drängte sich auf, daraus eine Textzeile zu machen, denn es klingt so herrlich absurd! Zur gleichen Zeit erzählten mir dann Freunde, dass sie aufgehört hätten, Freundschaftsanfragen zu akzeptieren, weil sie schon zu viele Freunde hätten. Und ich dachte: Das klingt ja noch komischer! Wie kann man denn zu viele Freunde haben? Natürlich hatte ich erst die materiell existierende Welt im Kopf und nicht soziale Netzwerke. Ich habe panisch angefangen, die paar Freunde, die ich habe, zusammenzuzählen und war ziemlich schnell fertig.

WIE VIELE WAREN ES DENN?
Du meinst echte Freunde fürs Leben? Menschen, denen man so sehr vertraut, dass man sich ihnen gegenüber verletzbar macht? Ich kann sie an einer Hand abzählen, aber dafür sind sie real! Ich habe null Freunde im Cyberspace.

ALSO BIST DU ALS PRIVATPERSON ÜBERHAUPT NICHT IN SOZIALEN NETZWERKEN AKTIV?
Nein, keiner aus unserer Band ist das. Wir netzwerken nicht sozial.

VERMUTLICH WÜRDE EURE ANTI-FACEBOOK-HYMNE „TOO MANY FRIENDS“ MARK ZUCKERBERG AUCH NICHT BESONDERS GEFALLEN.
Nun, ich stelle mir in dem Song lediglich Fragen bezüglich des Wesens von Freundschaften in der heutigen Welt. Bringt die Verbindung in sozialen Netzwerken uns wirklich enger zusammen, so wie es uns die Großkonzerne versprechen? Sind wir wirklich naiv genug zu glauben, dass deren Motivation ist, die Gesellschaft zu verbessern? Oder machen die sich nur die Taschen voll und es gedeiht dadurch eine neue Form der sozialen Entfremdung? Der Erzähler im Song fühlt jedenfalls Letzteres.

DU DENKST ALSO, SOZIALE NETZWERKE MACHEN IN WIRKLICHKEIT EINSAM?
Absolut! Und daran schließt sich gleich die nächste Frage an: Wenn wir die Möglichkeit haben, uns mit jemandem überall und jederzeit zu verbinden, beeinflusst das dann die Art, wie wir einander in der echten Welt gegenübertreten? Ich sage: Natürlich tut es das! Wenn man sich heutzutage mit jemandem trifft, ist die Person fünfzig Prozent der Zeit woanders mit dem Kopf und nur körperlich anwesend. Augenscheinlich hören sie dir zu und reden mit dir, aber die Aufmerksamkeit ist immer auch auf ihr Smartphone oder andere smarte Kontaktgeräte gerichtet.

SCHÖN, DASS ES ROCKSTARS DA NICHT ANDERS GEHT ALS NORMALEN MENSCHEN!
Es verändert jeden und alles! Die sozialen Netzwerke haben für den signifikantesten kulturellen Wandel gesorgt, den die Welt im letzten Jahrzehnt erfahren hat.

GIBT ES NOCH EINEN WEG ZURÜCK?
Zum menschlichen Miteinander? Wenn die ganze technologische Infrastruktur des Planeten kollabieren würde und wir gezwungen wären, ohne Elektrizität zu leben, dann würde sich die Gesellschaft vielleicht wieder auf ein vorindustrielles Maß einpendeln. Wir würden wieder anfangen, in Gemeinschaften zu leben. Die 40-plus-Generation hat noch einen Sinn dafür, aber für die junge Generation scheinen Gemeinschaften nur noch im Cyberspace zu existieren. Es sei denn, sie sind wie wir und nehmen daran nicht teil. Wir sind die Verweigerer.

WIE SCHAFFT MAN DAS, DIESER NEUEN WELT ZU WIDERSTEHEN?
Das ist einfach: Ich habe gar kein Verlangen, auf diesem Weg mit Leuten zu kommunizieren.

DAS SAGEN AM ANFANG ALLE, ABER WENN SIE ERST MAL DAMIT BEGINNEN, SIND SIE SCHNELL SÜCHTIG.
Deswegen tue ich es nicht. Da komme ich schon zur nächsten Frage: Sind diese neuen Webseiten die neue Droge, eine neue Form von Flucht? Von Menschen, die sich in der realen Welt nicht verbinden können, die nicht in der Lage sind, mit echten Emotionen umzugehen, die dem körperlichen Austausch, Mensch-zu-Mensch-Beziehungen und echten Gemeinschaften nicht gewachsen sind? Ist das die neue, industrialisierte Form von Flucht für unsere junge Generation? Für mich steht eines fest: Wenn du die Gemüter einer ganzen Generation in einer künstlichen Welt gefangen nimmst, dann werden diese Personen sich weniger darum kümmern, was politisch um sie herum passiert. Man könnte fast eine Verschwörung dahinter vermuten! Aber noch glaube ich nicht daran. 9/11 war keine Konspiration der Amerikaner, und Zuckerberg will nur Geld machen.

ABER DAS INTERNET HAT AUCH POSITIVES BESCHERT WIE DEN ARABISCHEN FRÜHLING!
Das hat es. Wie jede extrem mächtige Kraft in der Gesellschaft ist es ein Monster mit zwei Köpfen. Es ist nicht die Technologie an sich. Es ist das, was die Menschen damit tun. Das ist wie bei einer Axt, die du dazu benutzen kannst, einen Baum abzuhacken, um dein Zuhause zu beheizen und deine Kinder warm zu halten. Oder du kannst damit losziehen und Leute umbringen. Soll man die Axt dafür verantwortlich machen oder die Person, die sie hält?

WÜRDEST DU SO WEIT GEHEN UND VON EINER KRANKEN GESELLSCHAFT SPRECHEN?
Ich habe von Leuten gehört, deren Stimmungen von der Anzahl der Likes abhängen, die ihre jeweiligen Posts bei Facebook erhalten. Diese Menschen sind so abhängig von dieser Art Zuwendung, dass es sie depressiv werden lässt. Wenn ich mir andersrum vorstelle, dass da immer der soziale Druck ist, jemand anderen zu „liken“ oder jemanden als Freund zu bestätigen, dann frage ich mich: Warum sollte sich irgendjemand freiwillig in solch eine Situation begeben wollen? Und nun die gute Nachricht: Internet-Abhängigkeit wird mittlerweile in Behandlungszentren für Alkohol- und Drogensüchtige mitbehandelt.

KÖNNTEST DU MIR DIE ADRESSE GEBEN?
Ha, ha, google danach! Dann wird deine Suche bis ans Ende aller Tage aufgezeichnet, und dein Computer wird dich künftig wie einen Heroinabhängigen behandeln.

Not all rock stars are fans of social networks. Brian Molko (40 ) from the rock trio Placebo can not heat it in any case . With the single " Too Many Friends" of the new Placebo album " Loud Like Love ," the singer wrote a song about it . A conversation about too many friend requests , conspiracies in the cyber world and the sexual curiosity of Google.

BRIAN , PLACEBO ON THE NEW SINGLE " TOO MANY FRIENDS" ERÖFFNEST YOU WITH THE LINE : "MY COMPUTER THINKS I'M GAY ... " HOW TO GET ON SO WHAT?
Because it happened to me exactly ! I do not remember exactly what I typed on Google or on which porn sites I have previously been somewhat adventurous traveling , but suddenly changed the advertisements on the websites and suggested to me that I was a gay man !

YOU TIME YOU HAVE DESIGNATED AS BISEXUAL MEN . BUT YOU ARE NOT GAY ?
No, I 'm not ! But it pushed on to turn it into a line of text , because it sounds so delightfully absurd! PROBABLY WOULD YOUR ANTI- FACEBOOK ANTHEM " TOO MANY FRIENDS" MARK NOT PARTICULARLY LIKE SUGAR MOUNTAIN .
Well , I imagine the song only questions about the nature of friendships in the world today . Bring the compound in social networks are really close together , so as to promise us the big corporations ? Are we really naive enough to believe that their motivation is to improve society ? Or make only the bags full and it grows by a new form of social alienation ? The narrator in the song feels latter anyway .

YOU THINK SO , SOCIAL NETWORKS IN FACT MAKE LONELY ?
Absolutely ! And it closes immediately on to the next question : If we have the opportunity to work with someone to join us anytime, anywhere , which then affects the way we confront each other in the real world ? I say : Of course it does! When you meet with someone today , the person is fifty percent of the time only physically present with the head and elsewhere . Apparently they listen to you and talk to you , but the attention is always focused on their smartphone or other smart devices contact .

BEAUTIFUL THAT ROCK STARS AS IS OTHERWISE THAN NORMAL PEOPLE !
It changed everyone and everything ! The social networks have caused the most significant cultural change , the world has experienced in the last decade .

IS THERE STILL A WAY BACK ?
For human interaction ? If the entire technological infrastructure of the planet would collapse and we would be forced to live without electricity, then the company would perhaps settle back to a pre-industrial level . We would again begin to live in communities . The 40 -plus generation still has a sense for it, but for the younger generation seem Communities only to exist in cyberspace. Unless they are like us and do not participate . We are the objectors .

HOW DOES THE MAN , THE NEW WORLD TO RESIST ?
It's simple: I have no desire to communicate in this way with people.

Is this the new , industrialized form of escape for our young generation? For me, one thing is certain : If you take captive the minds of an entire generation in an artificial world , then these people will care less about what is happening politically around them. One might almost suspect a conspiracy behind it ! But still I do not believe it . 9/11 was not a conspiracy of the Americans , and Zuckerberg just wants to make money.

BUT THE INTERNET HAS ALSO AS THE POSITIVE brought ARAB SPRING!
It did. Like any extremely powerful force in society , it is a monster with two heads. It is not the technology itself. It is what people do with it. This is like an ax , which you can use to chop off a tree to heat your home and keep your kids warm. Or you can use it to go out and kill people . Should we make the ax responsible or the person who holds it ?

HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO AND SPEAK OF A SICK SOCIETY ?
I 've heard of people whose moods depending on the number of Likes , which receive their respective posts on Facebook. These people are so dependent on this kind of attention that they can become depressed . When I imagine the other way , that there always is the social pressure to "like" someone else or to confirm someone as a friend , then I ask myself: Why would anyone voluntarily want to embark in such a situation ? And now the good news: Internet addiction is now also treated in treatment centers for alcohol and drug addicts.

COULD YOU GIVE ME THE ADDRESS ?
Ha , ha , google it! Then your search is recorded until the end of time , and your computer will treat you in the future as a heroin addict .
