MERCY CENTRE
Father Joe runs Mercy Centre Bangkok and has done for forty two years. He regularly works twenty hour days and deals with human trafficking victims, abused children, drug addicts, aids sufferers, orphans…. if someone arrives at Mercy Centre in need of help, his door is always open.
Placebo have had an office in Bangkok since 2004 to serve the South East Asia region and have followed the work of Father Joe and his team over the years, visiting the centre and meeting the children when they're in town. Last weekend, a raging fire took hold of the Klong Toey slums, which is home to so many of the poor and suffering who Father Joe takes care of. The fire engulfed 72 homes and left 428 residents including 98 children without shelter. Everything the victims owned was destroyed. Thankfully the Mercy Centre Kindergarten, which stands 20 meters from where the fire took hold, survived. The Mercy Centre team will now go about rebuilding homes and supporting those in need. Money raised from this show will go towards this rebuilding process. Additionally, the Mercy Centre provides good education to the poor, sick and needy and it's through this process that there are now Mercy Centre kids who have gone on to be doctors and university lecturers!

Part of the money raised through the concert is going to Samye Ling Buddhist temple in Scotland, it has been in existence for forty six years and is the biggest outside of Tibet, the monastery is famous throughout the world and does many projects to help the poor and repressed too numerous to mention here.
Money from the concert will go towards a road in to the monastery, the current one is in a very poor state. Many people give their time for free to help build it. Lama Yeshe and his brother Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche (who some of you will know was assassinated in China last week) decided to call this road 'the path of liberation'.
The concert will take on even greater significance with the murder of Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche, so please try and get along early to learn a little more about the temple.

Many thanks for coming and supporting this cause,
